March 2021:

The Autobiography of JOHN BUCHAN

"John Buchan, 1st Baron Tweedsmuir (1875-1940) completed his autobiography not long before his death. The Monmouth Press edition uses the 1940's text of 'Memory Hold-the-Door' as its original source. The edition also includes the original illustrations and the first chapters of his unfinished book on fishing, 'Pilgrim's Rest'.

This fascinating saga of Buchan's life includes many details of his childhood adventures, his discovery of literature and philosophy, and numerous encounters with many of the key figures of the epoch, such as, Lord Grey, King George V, and T E Lawrence. The inspiration for his famous novels is revealed.

Buchan describes himself as "a natural story-teller, the kind of man who for the sake of his yarns would in prehistoric days have been given a seat by the fire and a special chunk of mammoth."

Jane Austen's: 'Jane Eyre'.

This edition of Charlotte Brontë's timeless and passionate romance includes: a biography of the author, an Introduction by E Black, contemporary black and white illustrations, and an appendix of colour plates by Monro S Orr.

"Jane Eyre is a poor, plain girl, who overcomes hardship to win her heart’s desire. It is on the surface, a perfect romance, one in which flawed individuals are ultimately accepted and loved for who they are. Yet this is more than a simple romance, it is also a successful challenge to many of the preconceived ideas of Brontë’s time, and indeed of today, thanks to her searing observations and unique vision."
